Massage Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Classic massage therapy aims at relaxing musculature and stimulating blood circulation in the skin and the subcutaneous tissues.
A special variant of massage therapy is manual lymphatic drainage. The use of special grip techniques (the therapist’s hands gently exert pressure and create a shifting motion on the patient’s skin) activates the patient’s lymphatic system and decreases the buildup of lymphatic fluid (edema).
